Bunker Renovation Project Updates

Project Overview

The Golf Course Bunker Renovation Project represents an important investment in the long-term playability, aesthetics, and sustainability of our golf course. Bunker renovation is a routine and necessary practice in golf course management. The USGA recommends that unlined bunkers have their sand and drainage systems replaced every five to ten years to maintain proper performance. Our bunkers were originally constructed in 2003 and have not undergone comprehensive renovation since that time, making this project both timely and essential.

The bunker renovation project has been carefully designed to achieve the following goals:

  • Improve bunker playability, consistency, and drainage performance
  • Install the Better Billy Bunker drainage system to enhance sand stability and longevity
  • Construct flat-bottom bunkers consistent with the existing character of the course
  • Employ natural grading and turf restoration to improve aesthetics and sustainability
  • Reduce the total number of bunkers to lower long-term maintenance demands and improve pace of play
  • Enhance fairway and approach areas to provide strategic options for players of all skill levels
  • Balance traditional shot values with modern playability in support of the club’s long-term course vision
